My role: As Data & Listings Coordinator I manage our ever-growing database of arts and heritage venues and events. I assist our lovely network of museum people in using our system to promote their events, and I help produce content for Culture24.org.uk about awesome museums, galleries and heritage sites to visit in the UK.

My background: I studied Contemporary Photographic Practice at UCA and soon realised that I found learning about the history of photographs far more interesting than making new ones. On a university trip to the National Media Museum’s stores I fell in love with museums, fascinated that the history I’d read so much about didn’t just exist in books – it was sat right in front of me, on rows of shelves and in carefully labelled drawers. I went on to spend a few years working with various collections at Brighton Museum including photographs, local history and world art, before coming to Culture24.

My inspiration: I’m at my happiest out and about – visiting museums, galleries, amusement arcades and gigs, or just strolling on the downs and taking in a pub or two. I love visiting new places and discovering hidden gems – like the fantastic John Jarrold Printing Museum in Norwich. I’m a big fan of English folklore and traditions, and will go out of my way to visit a really old tree.
